ASI to launch the CDO faculty on Island 10-22

On Island 10-22 in the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, the Center of Digital Development of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) will launch the CDO Faculty – educational intensive courses for participants who have chosen the roles of Chief Data Officer and Chief Education Officer.

The attendees may expect a two-week quest in laboratory and master class formats with the best Russian and foreign data experts. The aim of the quest is to increase the number and quality of data-driven decisions, as well as to form the relevant competencies in quest participants.

The Сhief Data Officer specialty comprises 114 persons organizing or planning to prepare for data management, whereas the Chief Education Officer specialty comprises 111 persons responsible for educational process management. They are to master the core skills and become Сhief Data Officers (CDOs) responsible for the collection, analysis, and storage of higher educational institution data, as well as for the transition to management driven by such data.

The CDO Faculty will also hold an educational interactive course on secure data management and data infrastructure formation. Acronis will show data access techniques that use phishing (a widespread type of Internet fraud) and ways to combat it.

In addition, in July 17, teams from Russian higher educational institutions under the supervision of Higher School of Economics (HSE) are to start forming projects for the introduction of the university's digital model. The laboratory will present successful cases of digitalization in education related to: single information model of the university, development of individual educational trajectories, class schedule management, use of online courses, as well as new approaches to IT specialist training and business process transformation. Moreover, experts will share their experience of digitalization of the Moscow educational system.

Participants of the intensive course will also work on the inter-university research project – a consortium of higher educational institutions for the development of institutional research using digital data on students to improve their academic performance. As a result of the laboratory work, participants will get familiar with the studies conducted by the leading higher educational institutions in the sphere of digital transformation in education and learn how to conduct institutional research. In addition, a tool kit will be developed to launch the consortium institutional research.

Besides, attendees are expected to work on the driver of changes in the regions – the laboratory case studies will be devoted to the specifics and formats of collection of data on the development of economic sectors and regional demand, big data management, and the use of predictive analytics in financial data analysis or recruitment.

The CDO Faculty is closely related to the laboratory of National Technology Initiative (NTI) end-to-end technologies and markets in using technology solutions for data management, to the laboratory of educational institution management and the strategic management of the university in decision-making, as well as laboratories of educational technologies and the practices of the future in using innovative products in education to take place as part of Island 10-22.
