Unified Digital Platform of Genetic Data to be created in Russia
The agreement on creating the Unified Digital Platform of Genetic Data was signed on September 17 at the fourth annual forum on biotechnologies Biotechmed in Geledzhik by the heads of Russian Genom Ekspert, Bars Group, and the D. O. Ott Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The platform may become the blueprint for development of personalized medicine in the Russian Federation.
"Genetics becomes a new driver for healthcare development in Russia. The digital platform of genetic data that we would like to create will include domestic and foreign genetic knowledge bases. It may enable the development of genetic science and may be used in applied medicine as well," founder of Genom Ekspert, member of the Expert board of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) Alexey Martynov said.
The team of platform developers includes Russia's leading geneticists, bioinformatic scientists, and analytical experts with a 20-year hands-on experience of developing and operating genetic programs in regional medico-genetic services.
Genom Ekspert develops Russian genetic technologies using digital tools. Bars Group specializes in implementing IT solutions in healthcare: from software development to software introduction and maintenance. The Ott Institute is one of the first organizations to engage in genetic research in Russia. The Institute has a quality genetic base and a number of studies and contracts completed in the framework of the genomic medicine laboratory.
