The Russian President Vladimir Putin received in the Kremlin the national team of WorldSkills Russia, who took the first place in the team standings by points and the fifth place by medals in the world championship WorldSkills 2017, which ended in Abu Dhabi (UAE) on October 19. The Head of the State congratulated the Russian team members with the highest score and marked their success during the competitions in competencies related to the digital economy.
“I’m pleased to note about 50 percent of all efforts and areas are the most important line of the future, the so-called digital economy. And this is especially impressive, because a modern successful specialist must certainly have this knowledge: skills of digital economy, robotics, programming. You showed these skills, and showed them in the most brilliant manner,” Vladimir Putin stressed.
Russia participated in the world championship on professional skills for the third time and won medals of the competition for the first time since 2013.
Following WorldSkills 2017, the national Russian team collected 11 medals and 21 medallions for professionalism.
Gold medals were awarded to participants in the competencies “IT Solutions for Business”, “Web Development”, “Jewel Crafting”, “Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Systems”, “Network and System Administration”, “Freight Forwarding”. The team won silver medals in the competencies “Mobile Robotics”, “Hairdressing”, “Visual Merchandising and Window Dressing”, “Truck maintenance”, and a bronze medal in the competency “Stone Dressing”.
“Everyone who worked with you and, surely, you personally have done a huge job. I mean your coaches, professionals, experts, teachers,” Vladimir Putin stated. “I would like to congratulate you and our young participants (JuniorSkills – editor’s note), as they also took the first place in school disciplines in this segment of working professions. This is also a great result!”
At WorldSkills 2017 in Abu Dhabi, Russia was represented by a team of 58 young professionals under the age of 25. Selection of the national team members was based on the results of national championships.
The 45th championship of professional skills WorldSkills Competition will take place in 2019 in Kazan. This right was granted to our country during the voting at the WorldSkills International’s General Assembly in 2015 in São Paulo (Brazil).
